The Class Rep System

What is a Class Rep?

The Class Rep System has two main functions:

Firstly, the a Class Rep plays an important role within the Students' Association. Class Reps are members of the Student Representation Council (SRC). The SRC is the governing body of the Association and it also acts as a communication link and feedback system ensuring it meets the needs of its members: YOU. By becoming a Class Rep you can have a positive effect both on the quality of your course and the Students Association. Examples of issues that can be raised by Class Reps are :

  • Programme content and structure
  • Teaching mehtods
  • Teaching facilities
  • Learning resources
  • Assessment

The Class Rep System is also a channel of communication between students and staff. Class Reps provide the means of communicating students' views to the University decision-making-process. A Class Rep is elected to represent the views of their classmates to the Programme Executive Board, which meets to discuss academic issues.

Being a Class Rep also provides the oppurtunity to develop transferable skills such as communication, negotiation, problem-solving, team-work and time-managment, which look good on your CV and enhance your employability.
