Who Can Stand for Election?

Absolutely ANYONE can stand for election, as long as you are currently a student at Abertay. Final year students are only eligible to stand for the two full-time positions, as the part-time posts are designed to fit in with your studies at the University. It doesn't matter which year you are in, as everyone has the potential to represent their fellow students. There's also no experience necessary, as you will receive plenty of training and guidance to help you settle in to your role on the Executive.

 

What Does the Executive Committee Do?

As a part of the Executive Committee, you are a representative of students, and have the power to make changes to help improve the experience for every student at Abertay. You can do this by working with the rest of the Committee and finding out what students want, then taking action to make sure you achieve your goals. To do this, you can run campaigns, attend Committee meetings and liaise with people inside and outside the University that can help you make changes. Don't worry if you've got no experience... you'll get all the training you need.

 

Who Is In the Executive Committee?

The Executive Committee is made up of 8 members. They are 2 full-time paid members, President and Vice-President, and 6 part-time members. To read more about the role each member plays, and the responsibilities they have, please click here.

 

Why Should I Stand For Election?

Standing for election is the perfect way to make a change for the better and to improve the experience for all students at Abertay. Throughout the year you'll get the chance to meet loads of great people from all over the country, as well as make plenty of new friends at Abertay. Being involved in the Executive Committee is also a great way of preparing you for future employment and will leave you with plenty of skills and attributes that are appealing to all potential employers in your future. It's your chance to get involved at Abertay, and one that shouldn't be missed.

 

How Do I Stand For Election?

Keep your eyes peeled for emails and posters advertising the elections. You can nominate yourself by collecting an Election Pack from the Student's Association that gives you all the information you need on how to stand for election. Details of when these are available will follow soon.
